Could I really call myself a fashion blogger if I didn’t post about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? I know I’m super late to the party as far as fashion bloggers go, but better late than never I guess! Since summer is starting to come to a close, I focused on looking for pieces that would transition well from summer to fall and serve as outfit “anchors,” so pieces that pull together looks and add just the right amount of “omph” to an outfit. Have I used too many quotations yet??

Personally, I’ve been looking for two kinds of items to add to my wardrobe this season. The first kind are staples that I search for each year and tick off as the years go by. The second kind are pieces that really align with my personal style enough to make them timeless for me. Sometimes they’re basics that I can’t get enough of and sometimes they’re funky and unique pieces that are also right on trend.

One sentiment that I’ve been trying to live by this year is that life is too short to lose yourself in other people’s opinions of you. That applies to much more than fashion, but since fashion is a big part of my life, I’m making a real effort this year to incorporate pieces that speak to my personal style regardless of what’s trendy. Granted, I’m not super adventurous yet because I’m still figuring it out (dude who isn’t these days), but that’s the fun of it!

Most of the items I highlight below are part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, but I did throw in a few that aren’t included, but they’re all petite friendly and Caitlin approved!

Seasonal Staples

Leather (or faux leather) Jacket

It’s honestly crazy how long I’ve been looking for a leather (or faux leather) jacket. It’s been almost 10 years since I last owned one, so safe to say that picking up the BlankNYC Good Vibes Faux Leather Moto Jacket was a must this year!

I’ve been dying for an All Saints leather jacket for years, but I’m not quite ready to take the leap. If you are, check out the gorgeous Dalby Leather Biker Jacket at an amazing sale price.

Here are a couple of other fantastic options.

Black Booties

My go-to footwear in the fall and cooler months are black booties. If I had more closet space, I would 100% have a whole shoe rack dedicated to little black booties in varying textures and styles, but I don’t, so I digress. If you’re on the hunt for a pair of black booties, check out these styles!

Trench Coat

I found my perfect trench two years ago on a trip to Paris with my sister. I know sounds so tré chic. Honestly, it’s not waterproof, but it’s impeccably crafted and the perfect tint of blush. In case you can’t tell, I love pink. If you’re in the market for a nice trench that’s also impeccably designed, but waterproof, take a look at these.

Soft Button-Down Shirt(s)

This seasonal staple has been on my list for a while now. I just haven’t found any button-down shirts with the right combination of fit and texture. Nothing is more uncomfortable than a stiff button-down shirt reminiscent of my first internship. Thankfully, Karen over at karenfayestye.com has been raving about the company Grayson and their amazing button-down tops. Unfortunately, they’re not part of the sale, but man the reviews don’t lie. These shirts are apparently out of this world soft and fit perfectly.

If you’re looking for a sale though, check out these well-reviewed options!

Personal Style Heros

Colorful Booties

I love my basics and my neutrals but once in a while a colorful piece catches my eye and I have to have it. When I saw these booties on fellow blogger Jordyn from @yourpaljordyn, I was IN LOVE! The teal color is dark enough to make the booties pull nearly black in just the right lighting keeping them semi-neutral enough for me to imagine all sorts of fun outfits without worrying if they’ll clash. Check out some other super fun and colorful footwear perfect for my petite feet ladies out there!

Perfect T-Shirt Dress

Nothing is more transitional weather friendly than a t-shirt dress. There, I said it and I won’t take it back! T-shirt dresses are the best for layering and there are so many ways to wear them. I really can’t get enough of them. Here are some fantastic t-shirt dress options that are currently on sale and won’t break the bank!

Faux Leather Leggings

I love the look of faux leather leggings. I picked up mine from lulus.com last year, but I’m still curious about other brands, namely Spanx. Bloggers and fashionistas everywhere are obsessed with Spanx faux leather leggings so I’m curious to know what the hype is all about!

If you haven’t hopped on the Spanx train yet, check out these super cute options.

Oxford Style Shoes

School-wear and uniform inspired clothes always give me fall vibes. Maybe because school starts in the fall, but I digress. I’ve always loved incorporating oxfords or loafers into my fall wardrobe to add a little sophistication and interest to my looks. Here are some styles that I would definitely wear all season long.

I’m honestly chomping at the bit to start wearing fall clothes and creating cooler-weather content, so I’m super excited to put together outfits and lookbooks for you guys this season!

Let me know if you end up purchasing anything from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I did some early shopping already and I’m super excited for my package(s) to come in!
